Why Plan B

Childhood deserves a Plan B.

Most afterschool programmes look after children. Plan B helps them flourish. Four ideas guiding what we do.

  1. 01

    Self-sufficiency

We hand them the spoon, the trowel, the hammer. We trust them with real tools, real choices and real responsibility.

  2. 02

    Curiosity

Open questions, slow afternoons, projects that take more than a day. We make space for boredom — because that's where ideas begin.

  3. 03

    Belonging

A small, mixed-age group where everyone is known by name. We celebrate difference and take care of each other on purpose.

  4. 04

    Real-life skills

Cooking a meal. Mending a chair. Growing a tomato. The small competences that quietly grow into a confident grown-up.

Our educative project

Reconnecting children with what matters.

Our project is focused on helping children reconnect with practical life skills, community values, and a slower, more mindful way of living — things that are often being lost in an increasingly screen-focused world. A key part of this initiative is the use of outdoor space, where children can learn hands-on skills such as basic solar energy concepts, simple water filtering, and growing food.

  • We will do…

Monthly projects focused on recycle, reuse, repurpose — through DIY, crafting, sewing and more.

  • We will have…

Simple cooking sessions where children can learn basic food preparation skills, as well as shared meals together.

  • We will participate…

We encourage a spirit of service. We would love for the children to become involved in volunteering and charitable activities.

A note from Bea

We're not minding children. We're walking with them.

We are parents too, and we are concerned about two things mainly: work-life balance and family reconciliation, plus children forgetting basic skills we gained in the past through experimentation, observation, and allowing our imagination to cover material needs.

We want to be able to bring children for volunteering activities and workshops outside the premises. We are going to teach them in a safe environment how to use certain DIY tools. We will work with them on projects adapted to the season of the year that will provide them, through crafting, core abilities to become more independent and gain problem-solving skills.

We want to do this in a community environment where we care for each other's well-being, we allow and respect diversity, and we support and encourage one another.

We have zero tolerance for verbal or physical abuse, as well as racist, sexist, and homophobic comments or behavior.
